Sign the Petition: Candidates should refuse to legitimize Fox

The CBC is seriously out of step with Black America, and with all Americans who care about racial justice and equality.

Presidential candidates should know that just because the CBC is making the mistake of validating Fox, it doesn't mean they should do the same. CNN has also scheduled debates with the CBC Institute, and this provides the candidates with an opportunity to attend a debate that will address the concerns of Black voters, without associating themselves with a network that has proven itself consistently hostile to Black Americans.

Join us in calling on the '08 candidates to boycott the Fox debate:

Here is the letter that we will present to the presidential candidates, unless you create your own. The letter will have your name on it.

Dear ['08 presidential candidate]

It is wrong for Black leaders to legitimize FOX -- a network that calls Black churches a cult, implies that Senator Barack Obama is a terrorist, and uses the solemn occasion of Coretta Scott King's funeral to call Black leaders "racist."

The Congressional Black Caucus Institute must end their partnership with FOX, and presidential candidates should reject the FOX debate in favor of the CBC Institute's CNN debate.

For the sake of all Americans who care about political discourse free from distortions and dishonest, race-baiting smears, I urge you not to attend any debate broadcast by Fox.
