Subject: Stop 140,000 Gulf Coast workers from losing benefits on Saturday
Dear ColorOfChange.org member,
Katrina survivors who lost their jobs after the storm are about to be dealt yet another blow. This Saturday, March 4th, 140,000 Gulf Coast workers unemployed because of Hurricane Katrina will be cut off from unemployment payments. Two weeks ago the Senate passed a bill to extend these benefits, but the House is just sitting on it. It's shameful.
Please take a moment today us in demanding that our representatives take a stand:
http://www.colorofchange.org/workers/ We shouldn't have to ask the House of Representatives to vote \x96 at the last minute \x96 on a bill which provides something as basic as unemployment assistance for survivors of one of the worst disasters in this country's history. But apparently we do.
Without jobs in the Gulf Coast, and with many Katrina survivors still trying to find stability elsewhere, it would be outrageous to cut off support to people who lost their jobs because of the storm.
Please join us in calling on the House of Representatives to act now, before it's too late, and please pass along this urgent message to your friends and family:

Thank you and Peace,
-- James, Van, and the rest of the ColorOfChange.org team
